Uploading your First Torrent
After reading about the basics of torrents in the previous post, you might be eager to know about creating a torrent.
Basic requirements for uploading a torrent :
- a torrent client like μtorrent or vuze or tixati.
- a reliable internet connection
- worthy and meaningful content to be uploaded
- trackers
- a torrent meta website like 1337x.to or extratorrent.cc or piratebay or kickasstorrents etc
This tutorial will be based on Kickass Torrents using μtorrent and publicly available torrent trackers.
So, lets start :
1 Make sure you have the full copyrights of the content you are about to upload and you are solely responsible for all the issues related with the content of your torrent shared by you.
2 Open μtorrent, and press CTRL + N or click create a new torrent from the file tab.
3 Choose whether you want to upload a file or a whole directory (yes, torrents support uploading of whole directory without zipping them, that is a basic advantage, because the files in that stored can be listed and viewed easily, while the contents of a compressed ZIP or RAR files are unknown)
4 After choosing your files, (I selected a folder to upload) it is time to choose trackers for your torrent.
What is a Torrent Tracker
What is a Torrent Tracker
Most popular torrent trackers are :
udp://open.demonii.com:1337/announce
udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce
udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce
But you can also use these :
udp://tracker.istole.it:80/announce
udp://tracker.ccc.de:80/announce
Make sure that you leave a blank line after every tracker url, it is the syntax of accepting trackers.
5 After the files are added in μtorrent, it will start seeding them and ask you to save a torrent file ( a file with extension .torrent )
6 We are done now, by preparing the torrent. Its time to upload it. Choose any torrent website to upload your torrent.
I am using kickass.to in this tutorial (you must be logged in to upload a torrent)
7 Click on the upload button in top bar, and choose most appropriate category for your torrent.
8 Upload your “something something .torrent” file and add description, title and other credits if you want to. You are advised to write a detailed description of the content you are uploading mentioning brief but clear summary in the title. Also provide screenshots and technical information if you are uploading a video.
9 After you are done with writing those things, click save and it will redirect you to that torrent’s page.
So, that’s all folks, you have successfully uploaded a torrent. Hope your torrents are really helpful for the world.
